Miss Black Beauty Canada pageant sets out to annually showcase the talents and achievements and build the confidence of the best and brightest African/Black/Canadian between the ages of 17 and 27. The beauty contest event is created by Fabliss World Entertainment Inc. based in Toronto Canada to support (Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario) Organization that educates Sickle Cell Disease Anemia.

Anastasia De Lyon was born in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada to Paul and Yvette De Lyon, and is the third daughter out of 4 girls. Anastasia describes herself as being ‘like water, [and that] there is more to her than meets the eye’. She grew up a tomboy, playing sports such as soccer, basketball and running track and field.
Currently, she is a free lance model and aspiring actress in Toronto. In June of 2013, she graduated with Honours from Centennial College – Child and Youth Worker program, and was accepted into the Child and Youth Care program at Ryerson University, where she plans to obtain her undergraduate and post-graduate degrees.
Anastasia is very passionate about helping people, especially youth, and she continues to dedicate her time by volunteering for the Scarborough Youth Justice Committee, which focuses its efforts on providing a second chance for youth and their families through restorative justice.
Anastasia is also a mentor and child and youth worker with I Am A Great Girl/Guy (IMAGG), which is a human services agency that she started with her sister in 2011 to help people ‘lead the life they love and love the life they lead’. Through IMAGG, Anastasia hopes to run workshops and events in the near future that help people build their confidence and self esteem, and show them more positive ways in which they can live their lives.On August 24, 2013, Anastasia De Lyon was crowned Miss Black Beauty Canada at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto, Ontario, thereby becoming the second winner to capture the crown.
During her reign, Anastasia will work with organizations such as Jer’s Vision and The Canadian Centre for Diversity. These are two examples of organizations that share her passion for issues related to anti-bullying, diversity and inclusivity. She will also work with the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO). Her work with this last organization is an example of the Miss Black Beauty Canada Organization’s dedication to supporting and raising awareness about the disease.
Anastasia aspires to inspire! She shares the beliefs of Benjamin E. Mays when he says: “The tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach. It isn’t a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a
calamity not to dream. It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach for, not failure, but low aim, is sin.”
Monique Shana-maria Redhead is a Canadian beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned the 1st Miss Black Beauty Canada (2012).
On August 25th, 2012. she was crowned the 1st Miss Black Beauty Canada 2012. Monique Redhead, who stands 1.74 m (5 ft 8 1/2 in) tall, competed as one of 10 finalists in her country’s national beauty pageant, Miss Black Beauty Canada, the first pageant of its caliber. Monique obtained the Photogenic Award, Best Evening Gown, Best International Costume & the People’s Choice Award. She became the eventual winner of the title, gaining the right to represent Black Canada on a worldwide scale.
Crowned the 2012 winner of Miss Black Beauty Canada in her hometown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Redhead, beat out 9 other finalist to do what no other in Canada has ever done. In an industry filled with women of a certain look, this 5 feet 81⁄2 Dark- skinned, Athletically built, reserved Black Canadian with a crest white smile came out on top with a Simple hairdo and door-to-door sponsorship. The timid voice beauty is an avid Naturalist and believes in the purity of things and strives to develop natural leadership talents in youth worldwide as well as extend the longevity of our earth through sustainable development. She is Passionate about youth evolution, sports, female empowerment and evolving Black Canadian History!

Monique is involved in various organizations World Wide. Most recently within her Black community she has devoted her time and passions in life towards The Congress of Black Women (Mississauga), C.A.A.B.W.A (Canadian and African Business Women Alliance), B.C.A.N (Black Community Action Network of Peel), & Youth Initiative Canada. This is in addition to her lifetime commitment to her childhood youth-lead organizations S.E.Y.A (South Etobicoke Youth Assembly) and Street Level in South Etobicoke within the GTA as well as Junior Achievement (In Grenada & Virginia).
Monique helped establish an organization currently active in Kenya entitled Beyond Hoops where she continues her platform of teaching youth to become the change they want the world to see. With Beyond Hoops she does this though the use of Sports. Monique is a Proud Canadian that loves the world, when she’s not exploring the world, she’s learning languages currently: French, Spanish, Japanese and most recently
Italian, with aspirations to learn an African language and Traditional Caribbean Creole Patois. “Everyone YOUNG, OLD or Middle Aged should never forget that ‘YOU define who you are and where you will go in life… no one else!’” Redhead says. “My Beauty is more then skin deep and is the combination of a variety of things. I credit my success to my upbringing, experiences in life and positive surroundings, my goals are never set to end at one point, just evolve, and this is what keeps me motivated and pushing in life.” The newly crowned Miss Black Beauty Canada says that the victory will allow her to help energize and empower a new movement of young pioneers. Identifying, enabling and developing everyday young people to overcome adversity, be successful & lead change.
Young pioneers in Monique’s definition are youth that against all odds, set out to accomplish something unimaginable.
Their dedication, sacrifice and heart are what opens doors of opportunity for them, be it though sports, education, work, entertainment or everyday life. Monique became a young pioneer & wants to teach the youth today that anything is possible although it may not follow the path of fairytales.
She has plans to focus on Sickle Cell Awareness around the globe. When asked about stereotypes and racism in light of the fact that she’s the first Miss Black Beauty Canada and it’s the 21st Century, Redhead said that “I aim to educate those who have misconceptions of the Black Canadian community, Black Women, or any minority, this I believe will help eliminate negative stereotypes and racism. Stereotypes offer no explanation or exploration; education will help eliminate stereotypes, ultimately decreasing racism worldwide.”
At the end of the day Monique just wants to be Rich at Heart…and believes everything else will follow
Yemi Odunaike was born April 19th 1995 in the beautiful town of St. Michel, Montréal. She is energetic , smart, and ambitious. Yemi now resides in Mississauga, Ontario. She has excellent oral and written skills is English and French. She is also able to speak Yoruba. She has a big family ,however her immediate family is her mother, father and her older brother.
Yemi is a people person. Making people smile and laugh is what she does best. Yemi loves Fashion , sports and cooking. She is currently in her second year of university. She is pursuing a degree in Business communications . Her dream job is to become a successful business woman. Focusing in the marketing industry. In the future she wants to run her own business.
Yemi is the new winner of Miss Black Beauty Canada pageant and the first African and Nigerian to win the beauty pageant. The pageant was created to honor black beauty, to raise awareness for the minority cultural heritage and community significance. Her hard work, determination and good time management helped her win the pageant.
Yemi also won three awards in the pageant. She won the best National costume, best talent and the miss social media award. Yemi is proud to say that her previous enrolment with the Ekiti Kete Canada has brought to her success. When Yemi was younger she was apart of the children’s cultural dance group. For her talent she decided to do the cultural Ekiti dance.
The uniqueness of her talent helped her win the best talent award. As the new MBBC 2014 Yemi must fulfill duties as queen. Part of her Platform is to empower women in the society, work with the Sickle Cell Awareness group of Ontario (SCAGO) to help spread awareness for sickle cell anemia and lastly being an advocate for the non-for profit organizations called Ekiti Kete Canada. She is happy to be the new ambassador for the hands of hero foundation as well.
Success is what Yemi Odunaike strives for and she is looking forward to working with many different organizations and charities to better our community and the rest of the world.
